color theory

colour wheel
colour experimentation (colours we associate with certain seasons and colour matching with scraps of fabric)
we first started off with a colour wheel to help with mixing colours properly as well as looking at contrasting and complimenting colours too. This did help with mixing colours as I do sometimes struggle with finding the right balance between colours to get the exact shade I'm looking for.
next we were given the option to have a go at colour matching with scraps of fabric, I picked out a nice deep red colour to attempt to match, as you can see below, I did have a few different attempts at recreating the colour, my best attempt was the one at the top, as it was the closest, I got to being the same as the fabric.
I then moved onto a task we were given, we were given a sheet of paper with four grids on it, that we had to fill with colours that represented the four seasons, the two I managed to get through were autumn and spring: I used a mix of browns, reds and yellows as I think of the changing of the leaves. For spring I went for a range of softer colours, the larger range down to the fact I see spring as the rebirth of the year, and I think of fields of flowers full of colour.
This workshop did effectively help with my use of colour, however I now need to build upon what I've learnt and take it further by learning how to apply this into my work, as in a previous post I mentioned I struggle with using acrylic, how I found it hard to blend and effectively use colour, but after this workshop I hope to improve upon that.
