At the start of this project I did not have the most confidence towards it, as the theme left me a little lost as to what I could make out of it, however after being given a sheet of words to help kickstart ideas- I took the word 'Enchanted' and began to branch ideas off of that word, which led me to building up a project to do with fantasy and children's story books and how I respond to them in my own way.
I have used many different techniques- both through my own exploration as well as the time we were given to explore new media during the numerous workshops that were hosted during the project, I had a range of work created that went with my theme, as well as using some of the new skills I had learnt to better improve on my own work that I may have already created. I did struggle at first with this theme however, not being sure as to what I was going to create, it took me a while to brainstorm and come up with ideas as to what I wanted to do in relation to that.
I would like to say I have had a good reflective approach in my work throughout, as I have made sure to reflect at the end of each piece about what I thought was successful and unsuccessful, there were more unsuccessful points than I would've liked because I did come across quite a few flaws in my personal experiments: such as the pyrography wooden book, being my most successful piece compared to my canvas- which I consider to be quite safe in comparison to my other pieces.
I have had a good exploration of risk taking throughout my work; a said in the previous point I attempted a few more risky pieces that I did end up struggling with a lot more than I suspected with, having a lot more challenges than I would have liked which did set me behind a little more than I was expecting.
I did have to think about my safety a few times in this project, such as with my pyrography work, I had to wear a mask and eyewear to make sure I didn't breath in any smoke or get anything in my eyes. The same with the plaster with our Modroc pieces, we had to wear a heavy duty masks to make sure we did not breath in anything harmful to us.
Overall I am feeling neutral about my work, I know I could have done more if I had the time put aside on new pieces rather than fixing older pieces, but I recognise where I have gone wrong and how to avoid it next time, so I know I will improve on this in my next project.
